Preparing artwork or logos for submission using imaging/graphic software
Below is a list of recommended imaging/software programs to be used for producing, editing, and preparing artwork or logos for submission to Form-Masters, Inc. Be sure to read information on any software program you intend on using, if available.
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe PageMaker
Adobe Photoshop
Corel Draw
Freehand
Quark XPress
Adobe Illustrator
The following guidelines are for Macintosh and IBM users.
One Color: When sending a one color image or logo, please include an image file with the Illustrator file. To avoid delays in processing, please create outlines for all texts, which will remove the need for a font file. For Mac users, creating an outline is not necessary and can be avoided as long as both printer and screen font files are sent with the job.
Multiple Color: Any job that requires multiple colors will be saved in the same manner as one color jobs. However, before sending the multiple color job, all color discrepancies must be edited. Please review our Color Logos specifications to verify which colors are acceptable. We recommend using the Custom Colors Palette which is better suited to printing.
Compressing Files Prior to Sending: If you are sending files from Macintosh, we recommend you use Stuffit (.sit) version 3.0 or higher to compress your data. If you are sending files from a Windows 3.1/95/98/XP or NT Workstation, we recommend you use WinZip version 2.0 or higher to compress your data. We will not guarantee quality of work or the turn around time of jobs sent with attachments compressed using other file management utilities because they may cause problems with your files.
For accuracy, any fonts used by Mac computers should be selected directly from the font list. It is necessary for all required font files are sent with the image and Illustrator files. Please review our Font specifications for more information.
Adobe PageMaker
The following guidelines are for Macintosh and PC users.
One Color: When sending a one color image or logo, please include an image file with the PageMaker file. PageMaker is set up so that these files may be stored together: Simply go into the Links Manager application. If you modify either file, be sure to resave both files, and verify the link in Links Manager before sending. If the link is severed, the file may be unusable and will result in a delay in processing. Any link should be sent to ensure all art is complete.
Multiple Color: Any job that requires multiple colors will be saved in the same manner as one color jobs. However, before sending the multiple color job, all color discrepancies must be edited. Please review our Color Logos specifications to verify which colors are acceptable. Also, before sending you can check the uniformity of the colors by clicking on the Color option in the Print Document Window. Under the Separations function you can choose to Print All Inks. This will enable you to see how the colors will look on the printed product.

Adobe Photoshop
The following guidelines are for Macintosh and PC users.
Due to differences in graphic capabilities, we do not recommend Photoshop to create an image or graphic for printing. However, we may be able to accept jobs from Photoshop that meet the following requirements:
Photoshop is only acceptable for one color print jobs. Due to limitations in the graphics, multiple colors are difficult to reproduce accurately.
Any file that is not saved in Grayscale or Bitmap mode may undergo modification before going into production. When saving the file, please be aware that we can print up to 2400 dots per inch. We would not recommend saving the image at a very high or very low resolution, because quality is affected.
Quark XPress
The following guidelines are for Macintosh and PC users.
One Color: When sending a one color image or logo, please include an image file with the Quark file. Quark is set up so that these files may be stored together: Simply go into the File Menu, and click on Collect for Output. If the image and Quark file are not stored and sent in a collected file, the link may be severed, which will be impossible to open and may delay processing of your order. To avoid this, go into Picture Usage before sending to verify that the image and Quark file have been stored together. If modifications are made to one file, we suggest always resaving both files to protect the link. Any link should be sent to ensure all art is complete.
Multiple Colors: Any job that requires multiple colors will be saved in the same manner as one color jobs. However, before sending the multiple color job, all color discrepancies must be edited. Please review our Color Logos specifications to verify which colors are acceptable. Also, before sending you can check the uniformity of the colors by going into the Print Dialogue in Quark and setting Separations to On. This function allows you to verify your colors. Again, any colors that appear identical on the monitor may not appear so in print.
